![]() The rapid expansion of civil aviation resulted in existing national meteorological services improving their observing networks and new national meteorological services being created, some of them by the civil aviation department in their country and so with responsibilities exclusively for civil aviation. ![]() All these requirements were so compelling that civil aviation authorities throughout the world were prepared to help in the financing of surface and upper-air observing stations at important locations, including airports, in the world-wide planning of air routes. Another essential need was for a telecommunications system to permit the rapid interchange of reports between one airport and another, including special priority for reports of sudden deteriorations. International civil aviation wanted observing stations at airports and forecasting offices at the more important ones. It should be noted that already in 1920 regular air services were established between London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. The rapid development of the civil aviation after the end of the World War I required the development of internationally-agreed methods and procedures to address the needs of the aviation community for meteorological data and information. In the light of this, the General Directorate undertakes the necessary contacts with the regional groups to support the agreed nominations with the emphasis that the nominations are made within the regional groups that are the basis for ensuring fair representation for all regions of the world.The first ancestor of the current Services Commission (SERCOM) Standing Committee on Services for Aviation (SC-AVI) was the Commission for the Application of Meteorology to Air Navigation (CAMAN) established by the Paris Conference of Directors of the International Meteorological Organization (IMO) as early as 1919. All regional organizations that are affiliated with the Organization shall be informed of the cooperation and coordination relations with the list of approved Arab nominations for their support and support.ģ. The General Directorate of the Organization shall notify the final approved list of the Presidency and the General Secretariat of the International Civil Aviation Organization.ĭ. If this fails, the General Directorate shall submit the matter to the Executive Board at a regular or extraordinary meeting, if necessary, with the attendance of the Parties concerned in order to coordinate and broadcast such nominations. If the number of nominations exceeds the proposed seats, the General Directorate shall communicate with the States concerned, but if it succeeds in finding a consensus, this is required. The General Directorate shall coordinate the process by contacting the relevant countries, organizations and regional groups for their support.ī. ![]() ![]() In the event that the nominations are within the limits of the proposed seats agreed upon with the other regional groups and organizations, the General Directorate shall circulate the nominations to the Arab countries for the purpose of providing support.
